Cerro Huemul is one of the biggest massifs in Los Glaciares National Park. Therefore, we can quickly identify it as one approaches El Chaltén.
Its slopes, glaciers, and ice tongues give it an imposing presence in one of the most intact areas of Los Glaciares National Park. In this program, we invite you to go around this hill and enjoy some beautiful views.
Itinerary
DAY 1 – EL CHALTÉN / LAGUNA TORO
The guide will meet you at the hotel to begin a full-day hike, during which we will enjoy the unique views of the granite massifs of the Torre and Fitz Roy mountains from Loma del Pliegue Tumbado viewpoint. We will continue through a unique valley of Lengas and Ñires forests to finally reach Laguna Toro camp. We will set up the camp, and we will prepare to rest.

DAY 2 – LAGUNA TORO / PASO DEL VIENTO / SOUTHERN ICE FIELD VIEWPOINT
After a good breakfast, we will begin the hike to Laguna Toro. We will walk by the lagoon and cross the Túnel River (through a ford or a zip line, depending on the river conditions).
During the ascent of the 800 meters of altitude to Paso del Viento, we will cross a glacier and tall stones. A fabulous panoramic view of the Southern Patagonian Ice Field will crown the splendid views throughout the journey. After a short break at Paso del Viento, we will begin the descent to Paso del Viento Camp, where we will set up our tents, enjoy dinner and rest.
5 hrs. trek Meals: Breakfast, Box Lunch, Dinner
DAY 3 – PASO DEL VIENTO / PASO HUEMUL / BAHÍA TÉMPANOS
Our trekking day goes through the foothills of Cerro Huemul, which we will surround. Andean meadows, lagoons and spectacular views will accompany us to Paso Huemul Camp. Here, we will have an incredible aerial view of the Viedma Glacier entering the homonymous lake.
Finally, we will undertake the most pronounced descent of the expedition to reach Bahía Témpanos camp, where we will spend the night.
8 hrs. trek Meals: Breakfast, Box Lunch, Dinner
DAY 4 – BAHÍA TÉMPANOS / LAGO VIEDMA / BAHÍA TÚNEL
After breakfast, we will descend to Lago Viedma, which we will skirt until Bahía Túnel, where a vehicle will be waiting to take us to El Chaltén, 18 kilometres away. End of services.

Gear Tips
As a general rule, you should always try to keep the weight of your equipment to a minimum. Bring only the equipment that is necessary.
The key to staying comfortable during this trip is dress layering. To obtain maximum comfort with minimum weight, you need versatile layers that mix and match to create the right amount of insulation, ventilation, and weather protection.
Each item on the list below is required, regardless of the weather forecast, to ensure your safety and well-being, as weather and conditions can change quickly in the mountains.
